There are usually two recommended routes to reach San Miguel de Allende.

1. Via Mexico City: Fly into Mexico City and take a shuttle to San Miguel de Allende. The drive typically takes about 4 hours, depending on traffic. This route is safe, commonly traveled, and a convenient option if you are plaing to spend a day or two in Mexico City before or after the stay in San Miguel de Allende.

2. Via Querétaro: Fly into Querétaro. From there, the drive to San Miguel de Allende is about 90 minutes, depending on traffic. Like the Mexico City route, this option is also safe and frequently traveled.

Shuttle Service

Shuttles can pick you up directly from the airport and take you straight to Casa Bougainvillea in San Miguel. If you’re staying in Mexico City, they can also pick you up from your hotel and take you to all the way to the front door in San Miguel de Allende. Shuttles can be found here.

September to April is Ideal

Considerations for May to August

Warmer Temperatures: May marks the onset of warmer weather, with average highs reaching around 87 °F (31 °C).
